Chapter 433 - 367: The Sword that Cleaved the Dragon Wings
Chapter 433 - 367: The Sword that Cleaved the Dragon Wings
As the ruler of the skies, a Domain Level powerhouse, when had it ever feared an attack of this level?
In its eyes, this attack, with Magic Power fluctuations so faint they were negligible, could at most be a mere tickle.
Dodge?
That was an act of the weak!
"ROAR!"
The Wind God Winged Dragon King let out an arrogant roar. Not only did it not slow down, it instead pushed the Domain Power around its body to the absolute limit.
Pale-cyan air currents rapidly converged on its body’s surface, forming a visible, Solid shield made of furious winds.
It would use the most brutish method possible to crush this laughable attack, and then tear the prey before it to shreds!
It chose to take it head-on.
In the next instant, the ripple-like Sword Qi slammed into the Wind God Winged Dragon King’s massive body.
There was no violent explosion as expected, not even much of a sound.
The moment the translucent Sword Qi touched the Wind God Winged Dragon King’s domain shield, it paused for a bare instant before slicing through without any resistance, like a hot knife through butter.
SHHHRIP!
A sound like tearing cloth rang out.
The Wind God Winged Dragon King’s vaunted domain shield was as fragile as tissue paper before that ripple.
The Sword Qi tore through the shield with overwhelming force, then sliced deep into its iron-hard Scale Armor and muscle.
A terrifying wound, dozens of meters long and deep enough to reveal bone, stretched from its back all the way across its massive wing!
Time, at this moment, seemed to stand still.
The Wind God Winged Dragon King’s forward momentum came to an abrupt halt, its massive body frozen in mid-air.
After a few short seconds of silence.
"AIIIIEEEE!"
A bloodcurdling roar, laced with agony and terror, reverberated across the entire sky!
Scalding blood gushed from the wound like a waterfall, creating a downpour of blood from the sky.
Intense pain swept over its every nerve like a tidal wave.
This was no mere injury—it was a grievous blow!
The core attribute of the Divine Weapon Broken Flow was not Power, but an all-penetrating sharpness.
Its edge could sever a flowing river, so how could mere flesh and blood possibly withstand it?
The Wind God Winged Dragon King’s arrogance had cost it dearly.
A huge gash was torn in its giant wing, making its flight extremely unstable.
It struggled to flap its wings, but its body faltered in the air, teetering on the verge of falling. Its speed plummeted, and it could no longer pose any threat to Kado and Gordo on the ground.
Kado and Gordo stopped in their tracks, looking back at the sky in utter shock.
They looked from the massive beast, struggling in agony and dripping blood in the air, to the distant, upright figure wielding the Divine Weapon. Their eyes filled with reverence.
To think a single sword strike could be so devastating!
The Wind God Winged Dragon King circled and wailed in the air. When it looked at Raylo, its eyes no longer held their earlier savagery and contempt, replaced instead by deep fear and venomous hatred.
However, the chase did not end there.
Raylo gave it no chance to catch its breath. With a beat of his Sun Wings, he was carried forward, continuing the pursuit.
Ahead, a majestic mountain gradually came into view, its peak soaring into the clouds.
Just as the group neared the mountain range, a loud, piercing eagle’s cry, sharp enough to shatter stone, suddenly rang out from the summit.
"SCREEE!"
The cry was filled with majesty and warning, containing a powerful aura that was in no way inferior to that of the Wind God Winged Dragon King.
This was the master of this territory, warning all outsiders!
The Wind God Winged Dragon King froze in the sky. It struggled to halt its momentum, and its cries of pain subsided.
It watched Raylo’s retreating back, then raised its head to look at the majestic mountain that radiated a dangerous aura.
After a moment’s hesitation, the instinct for survival overcame the desire for revenge.
The Wind God Winged Dragon King let out a deeply resentful growl. Dragging its heavily injured body, it turned and flew miserably back the way it had come.
The curtain finally fell on the life-and-death chase.
The mountain wind howled, blowing away the lingering smell of blood in the air.
「Night fell.」
Stars like fireflies blanketed the entire night sky.
The journey back to the Giant City-State felt exceptionally relaxed.
"Hahaha! That was great! Absolutely great!"
Gordo’s booming voice echoed through the valley, sending the forest’s night birds scattering into the air with a great flutter.
He showed no lingering fear from their narrow escape, instead slapping Kado’s shoulder with his huge palm. THUMP! THUMP!
"Kado, did you see that? Brother Carlo’s sword strike... it didn’t look like much, but he shattered that Winged Dragon King’s wing with one blow!"
Gordo gestured with his massive, fan-like hands as he spoke, his face flushed with excitement.
Kado grinned and nodded heavily.
For the thick-nerved Hill Giants, the heart-pounding escape they had just experienced was already a distant memory.
Raylo had already returned to his "Carlo" Giant form.
Sun had also turned back into a lazy orange cat, now lounging on his shoulder.
On his other shoulder, Moonlight and Coal Ball were huddled together, sound asleep.
Gordo hurried to catch up, sidling up to Raylo with eyes like bronze bells, full of admiration.
"Brother Carlo, you’re just incredible!"
He exclaimed in heartfelt admiration.
"I ain’t never seen a Giant who can get big or small just by thinkin’ about it, like you do!"
Raylo just turned his head, smiled at him, and said nothing.
Gordo’s gaze then fell on the orange cat on Raylo’s shoulder, and he clucked his tongue in amazement.
"And you even have such an awesome pet!"
"Is that a Golden Dragon? That’s so badass!"
’Pet?’
Lying on Raylo’s shoulder, Sun’s body instantly froze.
His noble head shot up, and flames of fury ignited in his pale gold, slitted pupils.
’What a mortal insult!’
HUFF! HUFF!
Two streams of scorching, sulfur-scented air suddenly shot from the orange cat’s nostrils, causing the air in front of it to distort from the heat.
If Raylo hadn’t pressed its head down in time, a blast of Dragon Breath would have likely hit Gordo square in the face.
Gordo pulled back his hand, scalded by the sudden heatwave. Not only was he not angry, he was even more excited.
"Hey! Would you look at that, the little guy’s got a temper! How interesting!"
Sun was so angry its fur stood on end, a threatening growl rumbling in its throat.
Raylo rubbed its head with a resigned sigh, calming down his Knight companion who looked ready to explode at any moment.
Amidst the clamor, the huge outline of the city-state faintly appeared under the starlight.
Upon reaching the city-state gate, Gordo stopped.
He shouldered his massive Meteor Chain Hammer and waved at Raylo and Kado.
"Brother Carlo, Brother Kado, I’m home! Come to my house for a drink tomorrow! My old man has a barrel of the strongest Dragon Blood Wine stashed away. I’ll sneak it out for us!"
After speaking, he strode off, humming an out-of-tune Giant ballad, turned into another wide street, and his tall figure soon disappeared into the shadows of the stone houses.
Once Gordo left, the surroundings instantly became quiet.
All that remained was the wailing of the night wind as it blew past the massive stone houses.
Kado led Raylo back to their temporary lodging, a simple stone house also built from giant rocks.
Raylo and Kado walked into the inner room.
With a slow RUMBLE, the stone door closed, shutting out the world outside.
Inside, a few Moonlight Stones used for illumination emitted a soft glow.
Raylo’s Giant form faded, and he reverted to his original, handsome human appearance.
The successive battles and disguises had tinged his brow with a trace of fatigue.
A low growl came from his shoulder.
The stone wall in the corner shimmered with faint light. Silver spatial ripples spread out, and a rift in space appeared.
Little Coal Ball couldn’t wait to get home.
Raylo stepped into the ripples.
After a slight feeling of spatial distortion, the scene before his eyes suddenly opened up.
The Black Stone Castle plaza.
Under the night sky, the cool moonlight illuminated the entire castle.
Without alarming too many people, Raylo returned to his bedroom.
The night wind blew in through the open window. Sun leaped from the windowsill, its hundred-meter draconic form unfurling as it returned to its nest atop Black Stone Castle.
