The man in front gripped the steering wheel tightly, his veins bulging, eyes bloodshot, wishing desperately to destroy the car ahead."Jared, Jared, stop," Leon Rivers spoke, "That guy’s background is unknown, but he hasn’t harmed your sister-in-law."

Screech. The car tires screeched to a halt, with Jared Quinn glaring furiously at the car in front.

Melody Thorne and Elias Hale didn’t return to the hotel but took a slower route up the mountain.

"Why did that old man want to kill you?" Melody perplexedly propped her chin on her hand, "Your Hale Family and theirs both treated the Quinn Family, it shouldn’t be like this."

"Have you heard the saying ’Two tigers cannot share one mountain’?" Elias Hale parked outside a house halfway up the mountain and led her inside without further explanation.

"I want to check the situation outside."

Elias gestured to a computer nearby, "You’d better rest. Although Jared Quinn is enraged right now, it won’t trigger his illness."

Originally wanting to check the outside situation, Melody Thorne immediately lay down on the soft couch to sleep after hearing Elias’s words.

Perhaps due to her pregnancy, she quickly fell asleep.

Elias approached her, bending down slightly. Just as he was about to kiss her, he stopped and with the right angle, took a photo of them seemingly kissing with his phone, and sent it to Jared Quinn’s phone.

At the Quinn Family, the atmosphere in the hall was grim, especially when Jared saw the photo of Melody being kissed by another man. He punched the glass table in front of him, shattering it with a powerful fist, and blood dripped from his large hand. It felt like a sharp claw had gripped his heart, spreading pain through his body.

"Find her, find her tonight!"

The villa was filled with a storm of fury.

Sleeping on the soft couch, Melody Thorne was startled awake, dreaming that Jared Quinn had an episode, angrily questioning why she followed Elias Hale and why she let him touch her, as sweat dotted her forehead.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Elias Hale looked up at her.

"Yes." Suddenly, a cracking sound came from outside. Elias’s expression shifted, and he grabbed Melody’s hand, pulling her towards the rooftop. "Someone’s coming."

"Catch them, hurry, catch them! The boss said it doesn’t matter if they’re dead or alive, as long as you get the item back."

Gunfire came from behind.

Elias cursed under his breath, regretting bringing Melody Thorne to such a place!

The two climbed down from the rooftop, heading straight for the mountain behind, with gunshots still audible behind them.

Melody panted, "I’ll find a place to hide myself, it’s better than hiding with you. Look at your enemies, they’re everywhere."

"Can you manage?"

"I can’t keep going, I have a baby, how could I possibly keep running?"

Elias glanced back, then placed her behind a large tree. "I’ll lead them away, you wait here for me. I’ll come back for you soon. Remember, the mountain is dangerous, stay put and don’t wander."

"But you..." Melody wanted to say something, but Elias had already turned and ran in another direction.

"Over there, quickly, after them!"

The figures vanished, leaving the mountain in silence. Melody Thorne waited in place, but fearing the dark,

she decided to close her eyes.
