At the border camp, Sasuke lay on a hospital bed, drenched in cold sweat, gritting his teeth to keep from making any sound.

Karin paced anxiously nearby.

Hinata’s face was pale, her small hands gripping the hem of her clothes tightly. Her worried gaze occasionally swept over Sasuke and toward the operating room behind them.

"Lord Adv-"

Before the words finished, Kazuki lifted the tent flap and walked in.

Seeing Kazuki arrive, Karin suppressed the tears welling in her eyes. Hinata’s anxious heart also settled. With the pillar of support here, she felt completely at ease.

"Lord Advisor..."

Sasuke tried to get up, but the movement made him gasp. Blood poured from the wound on his chest.

"Stay down. Don’t get up."

Kazuki raised a hand to press on Sasuke’s shoulder, signaling him to lie still. He glanced at the ghastly wound and nodded slightly.

"It’s not serious. The wound just looks scary. You broke a few ribs. Not bad – you remembered what I taught you."

As Kazuki had guessed, once Ōnoki learned Sasuke was active on the battlefield, he promptly ordered his men to focus on him.

One Uchiha Kazuki was enough for Iwagakure. They couldn’t let another appear.

Even if Sasuke couldn’t reach Kazuki’s level, at least they couldn’t let him become a second Uchiha Shisui or Uchiha Itachi.

He felt Sasuke had that talent.

So Sasuke was targeted.

"Sir, what about my teacher..."

Sasuke looked back with difficulty toward the operating room. He was worried about Fū.

To save him, Fū had paid a heavy price. His injuries were serious. He had undergone surgery immediately. They were still waiting for the result.

Kazuki signaled for the others to follow him out, not to disturb the medical ninja.

"You two kids, go back and rest. Sasuke and your teacher will be fine. They’ll be up and about soon."

"Yes, sir."

Karin and Hinata obediently left. With Kazuki there, they didn’t dare insist on staying to look after Sasuke.

Karin wanted to stay, but didn’t dare say so in front of Kazuki.

After sending the two girls off, Kazuki walked to an open area nearby and sat down, signaling Itachi, who was following him, to sit and talk.

Itachi emerged from the shadows and sat on the ground.

Though his gaze was calm, his eyes kept drifting toward the patient tent. Clearly, he was worried about Sasuke.

"Elder, during the ambush, especially when Fū blocked the attack for Sasuke, Sasuke’s emotional state fluctuated greatly."
