Chapter 118 Little Thoughts
Chapter 118 Little Thoughts
Chapter 117 Little Thoughts
Liu Yifei is in a particularly good mood today.
Just how good was it? So good that she woke up at five in the morning and wandered around for half an hour, startling her assistant who thought she had insomnia.
"Yifei, are you alright?" the assistant asked cautiously.
"It's okay, I'm fine," Liu Yifei said with a smile.
Seeing the barely concealed smile on her face, the assistant guessed what was going on, but didn't say anything.
Now, this good mood finally has a chance to shine.
Zhang Jun came to see her.
And surprisingly, Mom didn't object; she even gave them space, which was unimaginable before.
Liu Yifei remembered that last time a male actor wanted to invite her to dinner, her mother insisted on accompanying her all day, and the dinner ended up looking like a business negotiation.
But this time is different.
Liu Yifei didn't want to delve into why the differences were so significant; as long as the outcome was positive, that was enough.
"This way, this way, let me show you the set we built."
Liu Yifei walked ahead, turned around and waved to Zhang Jun, her face filled with undisguised joy.
Zhang Jun followed, looking around at the set.
The scale of "The Forbidden Kingdom" is quite large. The crew booked several areas in Hengdian and built sets of various styles.
There are Chinese-style palaces, markets from the Western Regions, and some fantastical sets.
"That's where we filmed a couple of days ago."
Liu Yifei pointed in a direction: "Brother Cheng Long and Brother Li Lianjie had a fight over there. I watched it for a whole day. It was so exciting."
"You didn't play?"
"My scene is later."
Liu Yifei said, "My character is the female lead in a martial arts film. There are action scenes, but they are not as intense as theirs."
She led Zhang Jun forward, talking incessantly about things happening on set.
"You know, there was a really funny actor the other day. He was playing a passerby, but he moved in the wrong direction and bumped right in front of the camera."
The director was so angry he yelled at him for ages, and he kept apologizing. Later, when filming wrapped, Jackie Chan even went over to him to tell him it was okay and not to take it to heart.
"And another thing, Brother Li Lianjie especially loves a noodle shop in Hengdian, and he has someone go there to buy noodles for him every day. Later, the owner of that noodle shop all knew him, and he would always give him extra toppings."
Zhang Jun couldn't help but laugh as he listened to her rambling on and on.
"What are you laughing at?" Liu Yifei stopped and looked at him.
"It's nothing, I just noticed you seemed happy."
Liu Yifei paused for a moment, then smiled: "I am quite happy. Of course I'm happy that you came to visit the set."
This was said very naturally, without any beating around the bush; it was just saying what was on one's mind.
Zhang Jun nodded, said nothing more, and continued to follow her forward.
As the two turned to a corner, a person walked towards them—it was Li Shuangbing.
She was wearing a costume, so she must have just finished filming a scene. When she saw Zhang Jun, her eyes lit up, and she walked over with a smile.
"Director Zhang, what brings you here?"
Li Shuangbing greeted her warmly, "Here to visit Yifei on set?"
Zhang Jun nodded: "I just happened to be passing by Hengdian, so I thought I'd stop by and take a look."
"Director Zhang is really thoughtful."
As Li Shuangbing spoke, his gaze swept between Liu Yifei and Zhang Jun, and his smile deepened.
"Yifei, why didn't you say so earlier? I could have made some preparations and invited Director Zhang to dinner or something."
Liu Yifei smiled but didn't reply. She simply moved closer to Zhang Jun.
Li Shuangbing noticed this subtle movement and found it somewhat amusing.
What is this little girl doing? Is she asserting sovereignty?
Li Shuangbing has been in the entertainment industry for so many years, she's seen all kinds of people. Liu Yifei's little thoughts are impossible to hide, they're written all over her face.
However, Li Shuangbing had no intention of backing down.
How many directors like Zhang Jun are there in the entire industry? Young, talented, with resources at his disposal, every film he makes becomes a hit.
Who wouldn't want to get to know a man like that better?
Moreover, she and Zhang Jun had worked together on "Reign of Assassins," and although their roles were small, they were still old acquaintances.
We might as well take advantage of this relationship.
"Director Zhang, the promotion for 'Bad Genius' is quite popular lately."
Li Shuangbing changed the subject: "I've seen a lot of discussions, everyone says they want to see it. When it's released, I'll have to go support it."
Zhang Jun smiled and said, "Thank you very much."
"Just thanking him won't do. Next time there's a suitable role, Director Zhang has to think of me."
Li Shuangbing blinked, her tone half serious and half joking.
"must."
The two chatted for a few more minutes when Li Shuangbing's assistant ran over and told her that the next scene was about to start and that she should go get her makeup done.
Li Shuangbing nodded, and before leaving, he glanced at Liu Yifei again and said with a smile, "Yifei, please take good care of Director Zhang for me."
After saying that, she turned and left.
Liu Yifei stood there, her smile fading slightly.
She could certainly sense Li Shuangbing's attitude just now.
She was enthusiastic, proactive, and kept talking to Zhang Jun, leaving her standing aside.
Although the last sentence, "Please treat Director Zhang well for me," sounded like a polite remark, Liu Yifei still felt that something was off.
"What's wrong?" Zhang Jun asked her.
"It's nothing."
Liu Yifei shook her head and smiled again. "Let's go, I'll take you to see other places."
Is the fairy sister jealous? Zhang Jun shook his head and followed her forward.
For the rest of the journey, Liu Yifei was noticeably less lively than before. Although she was still introducing the film crew, her tone lacked some of her earlier enthusiasm.
When Zhang Jun walked up to a small stall selling cold drinks, he stopped.
"Want some ice cream?"
Liu Yifei was taken aback for a moment: "Huh?"
"ice cream."
Zhang Jun pointed to the freezer at the stall: "Want some?"
Liu Yifei hesitated for a moment.
Ice cream is within her mother's control. Liu Xiaoli believes that these things are unhealthy and easy to gain weight, so she rarely lets her eat them.
Liu Yifei herself is used to it and generally doesn't buy things on her own initiative.
But today—
"Eat." She nodded.
Zhang Jun walked over, bought two ice creams, and handed one to Liu Yifei.
Liu Yifei took the ice cream and took a bite. It was cool and sweet, slowly melting in her mouth.
She suddenly laughed.
"What are you laughing at?" Zhang Jun asked.
"Nothing, I'm just suddenly very happy."
Liu Yifei said, "Thank you, Zhang Jun."
Zhang Jun laughed and said, "Looks like you're not angry anymore—"
"I didn't!"
Zhang Jun continued walking forward, with Liu Yifei following behind, eating ice cream as they went. The little unpleasantness from earlier had long since vanished.
The two walked around and returned to the main filming area, just as Jackie Chan and Jet Li finished filming a scene.
Both men were covered in sweat, and staff surrounded them, offering towels and water. Upon seeing Zhang Jun, Jackie Chan paused for a moment, then smiled and walked over.
"Junzi? What brings you here?"
Zhang Jun went up to them: "Brother Cheng Long, Brother Li Lianjie, we just happened to be passing by and came to say hello."
Li Lianjie also came over and looked Zhang Jun up and down: "I've heard that Director Zhang is young, but seeing him today, he's even younger than I imagined."
Zhang Jun smiled and said, "Brother Jie, you flatter me."
Jackie Chan chimed in from the side, "Jun Zai, I've seen all of your movies. 'Reign of Assassins' was really well made, especially the action choreography. It has the feel of old Hong Kong films, but it's different."
"I'm embarrassed by Brother Long's praise."
Zhang Jun said, "Actually, I came here today hoping to have a chat with you two. I hope we can collaborate in the future."
.
Jackie Chan's eyes lit up: "Really? Then it's a deal! You must contact me if you find a suitable role."
Li Lianjie also became interested: "Director Zhang, you can't just look for Jackie Chan and leave me out."
Zhang Jun shrugged: "My little temple can't afford to invite two great gods to appear at the same time."
Jackie Chan and Jet Li both laughed.
Cheng Long patted Zhang Jun on the shoulder: "Junzi, you're being too modest. Your box office appeal is much stronger than ours."
Jet Li nodded: "That's right. I heard that audiences are already very much looking forward to 'Bad Genius' even before it has been released."
Zhang Jun waved his hand: "It's all just media nonsense, it's not that exaggerated."
The three chatted for a while longer when the director called for Jackie Chan and Jet Li to prepare for the next scene.
"Junzi, let's talk again when we get to Beijing."
After Cheng Long finished speaking, he left with Li Lianjie.
Zhang Jun watched the two figures as they walked away, pondering the conversation they had just had.
