Chapter 32 Good looks are always an advantage
These farces only subsided after Jiang Youzhen bought a baseball cap to cover half of his face. He looked at the business cards in his hand, all of which were given to him by talent scouts or agents who were unwilling to give up.
Thinking of the fervor on their faces, he couldn't help but ask, "They've already called out my name, why are they still trying to get me to sign with the company?"
Kim Tae-yeon looked up at Kang Woo-jin's confused and bewildered expression, and couldn't help but laugh, "That's because you haven't signed with an agency. Putting everything else aside, your face is very popular. If we signed you, even with training the day after tomorrow, debuting as an idol wouldn't be a problem."
"Then forget it. My bones are like they're rusted, I can't dance." Jiang Youzhen shook his head. Trainees all start training from a young age. Unless he breaks his bones, he definitely can't dance.
Without the disturbance of those people, the two of them had a fairly pleasant stroll despite the large number of passersby and tourists around them.
The barbecue restaurant that Kim Tae-yeon mentioned is also outside Myeongdong. It's not expensive and the environment is clean. She and her practice room friends have eaten there twice, and the food was good, so she has a high impression of it.
The restaurant was doing good business, but luckily there were only two of them, so they got a table quickly.
During the meal, Kang Woo-jin received a call from Mads-Oh. Taking advantage of this break, Kim Tae-yeon also took out her phone to deal with her friends in the group chat.
Listening to the relaxed conversation between the man and her father on the phone, her typing speed gradually slowed down.
Jiang Youzhen quickly finished his call with Mads-Oh, put his phone back in his pocket, and noticed the girl on the other end of the line was looking at him with a complicated expression. Curious, he asked, "What's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face?"
"Um, no... well, Anders, you just called your dad? Was it... Uncle Mads?" Kim Tae-yeon shook her head and asked again.
"Yes, we even visited your house when we were little," Jiang Youzhen answered truthfully.
"That's right. Uncle Mads has been sending our family gifts every Chinese New Year for the past few years, and our whole family is very grateful for his care."
This news shocked Jiang Youzhen. He knew that Mads Wu would send gifts to his friends every Lunar New Year because of interpersonal relationships and social customs, but he always thought they were actors, producers and directors he knew in the industry.
Who would have thought that even friends I had just met back home would be included?
...
No wonder my dad is so popular; he's well-liked wherever he goes.
"My dad never told me this, but he does have a habit of sending New Year's gifts to his friends, and I even picked out a gift list for him."
So surprised was Jiang Youzhen that his voice was somewhat unsteady.
A bright smile spread across the girl's face. Her heart was warmed; her whole family was deeply moved by Mads Wu's actions.
After her explanation, Kang Woo-jin understood that Mados-oh kept in touch with friends both domestically and internationally, including Kim Tae-yeon's parents, but the contact was not frequent, except for sending New Year's greetings and exchanging gifts.
But Kang Woo-jin really admires his father for being able to persevere for so many years and maintain so many relationships.
The two chatted and ate, and then strolled around outside for a long time. Kim Tae-yeon wanted to buy a gift for Kang Woo-jin, but he declined, saying it was too expensive. Besides, he couldn't let a girl spend money when they went out together.
As soon as it got dark, Kang Woo-jin drove Kim Tae-yeon home. The black Range Rover had just stopped in front of her dormitory building when Kim Tae-yeon noticed it and looked up.
Sure enough, she saw several little heads huddled on the balcony, staring in this direction.
...These girls, instead of going home for the holidays, what are they doing here watching the commotion?
Kang Woo-jin had just unbuckled his seatbelt and was about to get out of the car to help her inside, but Kim Tae-yeon stopped him with one hand.
He blinked in astonishment at the small hand pressed against his chest, preventing him from making any movement.
What's wrong?
"I can go up by myself. I had a lot of fun today, thank you Anders. But my girlfriends are a bit gossipy, so you don't need to get out of the car."
Kim Tae-yeon swore she had never spoken so fast before. After finishing her conversation with Kang Woo-jin, she quickly opened the car door and got out.
Jiang Youzhen looked at the bouquet of flowers she had overlooked, opened his mouth, but could only watch as that petite figure ran into the building.
"No... Flower, you forgot... I haven't said anything yet."
After a moment of confusion, Kang Woo-jin took out his phone and quickly sent a message to Kim Tae-yeon, asking if she had returned to the dorm.
It took him about two or three minutes to receive a reply.
Jiang Youzhen originally wanted to tell the girl that she had left her flowers in the car, but when he thought of the genuine panic on her face when she got out of the car, he deleted what he had typed and retyped a message telling her to get some rest and sent it to her.
Upstairs in the dormitory, Kim Tae-yeon stood on the balcony, watching the car slowly drive away, and then she breathed a sigh of relief.
When she returned, she was naturally met with a barrage of questions from her gossipy friends.
However, after she mentioned that the "Hollywood veteran" was still downstairs, the group quieted down.
"Unnie, are you still watching?"
Suddenly, a girl popped out from behind her, and the sound startled Kim Tae-yeon.
She turned around and saw it was Lim Yoona, and couldn't help but complain, "Why did you scare me? I'm easily frightened, and you keep scaring me."
"Unnie, it was clearly your own daydreaming that you blamed me," Im Yoona chuckled dryly, then pointed out onto the balcony and asked playfully, "Unnie, you went on a date with your Hollywood senior today, didn't you?"
The word "date" made Kim Tae-yeon feel a little awkward subconsciously. She touched her slightly burning earlobe while avoiding Yoona's teasing gaze.
"What date? It's just helping me rehearse my lines, wait a minute!"
It was at this moment that Kim Tae-yeon suddenly remembered that she had forgotten the bouquet of flowers in the car.
After a brief moment of stunned silence, she felt quite relieved.
If she had come back with flowers, who knows how these people would have teased her and made fun of her and Kang Woo-jin.
After reflecting on her stroll outside today, she thought for a moment and found that she wasn't opposed to it and even quite happy.
Im Yoona didn't hear what Kim Tae-yeon was saying, but seeing her sister's mind wander again, she couldn't help but shake her head and sigh. Sure enough, being good-looking is an advantage. Look, her sister really cares about that Hollywood senior.
On the other side, Jiang Youzhen, who had already returned home, found that Mads Wu and Jiang Jingshu had not yet returned. His maternal grandfather was sitting in the living room watching the live TV broadcast. When he saw his grandson return, he affectionately called his name.
"Hey town, have you eaten yet?"
"I've eaten, Grandpa. What TV are you watching?"
Jiang Youzhen put the flowers in his hand aside and quickly walked into the living room to sit next to the old man.
"It's just those year-end shows on TV," the old man said with a smile, glancing at the idol boy band on the TV, then at his grandson. "Our town has handsome guys too, much better looking than those idols."
"Grandpa, it's because our family has good genes that I'm so good-looking. You're even more handsome, with such a great temperament. I wonder how many girls you captivated when you were young," Jiang Youzhen said with a grin, trying to please the old man.
After a couple of flattering remarks, the old man laughed for a long time until Jiang Jingshu and Mads Wu returned, at which point Jiang Youzhen slightly toned down his childlike tone.
