Chapter 37 Exchanging Gifts
Chapter 37 Exchanging Gifts
After spending a long time in the office, Kang Woo-jin received Kim Tae-yeon's text message reply. By then, they had already returned to the practice room. Because the head of the practice room was watching over her, she couldn't keep her phone on her phone the whole time, so her reply was a little late.
Jiang Youzhen didn't mind. He liked to be in a quiet place, and at least now he was in his office, where no one was bothering him.
During this time, he went down to the underground parking lot, took out the gift he had bought from his car, and returned to the company.
Jiang Jingshu was wondering what he had bought when she saw that he was carrying two luxury gift bags, and it looked like they contained quite a lot of things.
"FENDI, Cartier, Yoojin, you even bought me a bag and a watch, is there something you need my help with?"
As the saying goes, "There's no such thing as a free lunch." Jiang Jingshu didn't think her son would send her a gift so easily. Why did he have to send it today of all days?
"This isn't the company's opening, so I have to give you a small gift. I don't mean anything by it," Jiang Youzhen chuckled dryly and placed the gifts in her office.
He seemed to harbor some resentment; when he put it down, his face still showed a mixture of frustration and innocence.
Seeing his expression, Jiang Jingshu thought he was genuinely considerate of her and was about to say something pleasantly surprised when she heard Jiang Youzhen muttering something.
"Mom, don't forget what you promised me. I'm waiting for your news."
After saying that, he immediately left the office.
Jiang Jingshu was stunned for a while before she realized what he was talking about. By the time she turned around, Jiang Youzhen was already gone.
Jiang Youzhen had already taken the elevator back to the parking lot. He took out his phone but didn't see a reply from the girl, so he left the car in the car.
The underground parking lot is very spacious and can accommodate many cars. He parked in a corner, so no one noticed him.
Before receiving a new message on his phone, he stayed quietly in the car, scribbling on paper with a pen.
Kang Woo-jin plans to refuse the production company in New York that has been urging him. He has already cooperated by writing two sequels, and if it weren't for the polarized reviews, he really wouldn't want to contact the producer again.
But money talks. Even if the box office is getting worse and worse, the production company is still willing to invest and sign contracts with him.
"The theme of cannibals is nothing new, and scripts need to keep up with the market. Why single me out just because I'm cheap?"
Kang Woo-jin wondered if he had asked for too little money, which was why the production company was so persistent in contacting him.
Just as he was feeling distressed, his phone finally rang.
After seeing the text message, he put down what he was holding and then started the car and drove toward the exit.
At the back door of SM Entertainment, he saw Kim Tae-yeon standing behind the main gate.
She seemed very cautious, her eyes frequently glancing towards the building, as if worried about being discovered hiding there.
Upon hearing the distinct sound of an engine, Kim Tae-yeon twitched her ears, quickly looked away, and peeked her head out from behind the door.
She smiled and waved to Jiang Youzhen as he got out of the car.
"Anders, over here!"
"Why are you hiding here? You're a trainee at this company, but you look like a thief," Jiang Youzhen teased her with a laugh when he saw her cautious demeanor.
"What 'thief'? That's a really rude way to put it. I was just trying to avoid being found out by the dorm leader, you know that?!"
Kim Tae-yeon was a little annoyed by what he said. She looked up and glared at him, but looking at her expression and eyes, she had no intimidating power at all, only cuteness.
Jiang Youzhen couldn't help but smile. He bent down, trying to calm down and speak seriously, but he lost his composure as soon as he saw that inexplicably coquettish look in her eyes.
"Alright, alright, don't be angry, here you go."
He took out a small bracelet from his pocket, which he had taken out beforehand. Seeing that the girl didn't quite understand, he explained it to her in a low voice.
"I'm flying to New York in a couple of days and won't be back for a while, so consider this a farewell gift. And...didn't you say you had a gift for me? This is a return gift."
This last sentence is what he's really concerned about: it's impolite to receive a gift for no reason, so he's prepared a return gift.
Kim Tae-yeon couldn't tell how valuable the bracelet Kang Woo-jin had given her was, but it was sparkly, so she could guess it cost a lot of money.
Hearing the last sentence, she finally realized what was going on, quickly picked up the bag behind her and handed it to Jiang Youzhen, saying, "Your clothes and gifts are all in there, but this bracelet... isn't that inappropriate..."
Jiang Youzhen took the bag and saw that his suit was neatly placed inside, with a small flat box on top.
I'm guessing it's either a bracelet or a necklace.
What a coincidence!
He shook his head, took the girl's wrist, and carefully put the bracelet on her wrist. The length was just right, matching her pale skin, and it shone with a dazzling white light under the light.
"It looks great, and it suits you perfectly."
Before he could fully appreciate it, Kim Tae-yeon withdrew her arm because she felt uncomfortable, but she accepted the gift nonetheless.
Fortunately, it was still a bit chilly at night, so she adjusted her sleeves slightly to cover the bracelet.
Kang Woo-jin wanted to chat with her in the car for a while, but Kim Tae-yeon told him some rather surprising news.
Today, their practice room manager told them that the company intends to form a new girl group to debut, but that was the end of the story.
At first glance, it sounded like empty promises, but the boy group had already debuted, and the girl group's debut plan kept changing, so after chatting for a while, they were pretty sure.
This time, the cake might actually be real!
"This is great news! I have to congratulate you in advance. SM Entertainment is such a big and powerful company..." Kang Woo-jin was somewhat surprised to hear about their potential debut so soon.
But when he thought of the Shinhwa group he had seen a few years ago, and then of the Super Junior group he had seen on TV, his eyes were now filled with worry and concern as he looked at Kim Tae-yeon.
Kim Tae-yeon was puzzled by his strange expression, especially when she saw what he was saying in a low voice with his head down. She suddenly felt that she herself was having some difficulty speaking.
"Taeyeon, does your company... not feed its artists? You're already short and skinny since you debuted, and if they don't feed you, won't you starve to death on stage?"
Kim Tae-yeon "..."
What deep impression did this company leave on you that made you feel like the company wasn't providing food?
And yet, she couldn't find a reason to refute it!
"Um, Anders, I think... our company still has a certain conscience; we won't starve them."
Although an explanation was given, the reason seemed somewhat weak.
The two stood there chatting for a short while, and soon they heard Lim Yoona run over to remind Kim Tae-yeon that it was almost time.
Upon seeing Kang Woo-jin there, Lim Yoon-ah was taken aback at first, then quickly bowed her head to greet him.
Knowing they had practice tonight, Kang Woo-jin didn't linger. However, before leaving, he mentioned that the drama would premiere tomorrow, and they could watch it if they were interested.
Given the current level of publicity from the TV station, they would watch it even if Jiang Youzhen didn't say so.
Kim Tae-yeon waved to Kang Woo-jin, then quickly ran back into the company building. Only after watching the door close did Kang Woo-jin slowly drive home.
